Two-time World Cup winner Megan Rapinoe has said she hopes for more investment in the women's domestic league and better pay for club players as well as for the national sides.

Earlier this month, the U.S. National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) announced new compensation guidelines for 2020, including a nearly 20% increase in the overall salary cap as well as allocation money allowing teams to invest in some players above the maximum salary.

Sam Kerr is remaining coy about her club future amid rumours that a deal has been struck with Chelsea, preferring to focus on a much-needed holiday instead.

NWSL allocates more money to pay top players

Clubs in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) will be allowed to boost salaries and pay premiums to top-end players to help them to attract the world's best talent, the U.S.-based league announced on Friday.

The nine clubs will each get an extra $300,000 in allocation money next season to pay top players more than the maximum permitted salary if they meet certain criteria.
