Kalusha Bwalya handed FIFA ban after Code of Ethics violation

FIFA have banned Confederation of African Football executive committee member and Zambia great Kalusha Bwalya from all football-related activities for two years, world football's governing body announced on Friday.

A brief statement on FIFA's website noted that an investigation against Bwalya, which was opened on February 28 2017, had found him guilty of violating articles 16 and 20 of the FIFA Code of Ethics.

Specifically, the investigation had focused principally on benefits received from former...

Holders Zambia dumped out of COSAFA U-17 Cup, South Africa progress

South Africa came from behind to beat defending champions Zambia 2-1 in the COSAFA U-17 Cup on Tuesday to advance at the Young Bullets' expense.

The win means South Africa end their Group B campaign in top spot, and will advance to the semi finals, while Zambia - on four points - cannot now advance as the best runner-up.

In Group A, Namibia secured their progression with a victory over Botswana, while Mauritius could yet progress as best runners-up after thumping the Seychelles.

It all looked good...

Defending champions Zambia set for Lesotho showdown

Defending COSAFA U-17 Cup champions Zambia meet Lesotho on Sunday as they look to bounce back from their underwhelming tournament opener against Mozambique.

Tenant Chilumba's side won the age-grade tournament in Mauritius last year after downing the hosts 3-0 in the final, however, their title defence began with a low-key showing on Thursday.

Zambia can, however, take some solace from the fact that their title-winning campaign in 2017 began with a 1-0 defeat by Mozambique, and they'll be expected...

Even Nations Cup qualification may not keep Sven Vandenbroeck in Zambia

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) have set new coach Sven Vandenbroeck a mandate of reaching the 2019 African Nations Cup finals, but have acknowledged that even that may not be enough to keep him in the job.

FAZ made the statement following the official unveiling of the 38-year-old Belgian coach in Lusaka on Tuesday, during which FAZ President Andrew Kamanga made it clear that failure to reach the finals in Cameroon next year was not acceptable.

There was even the hint that reaching the...

Sven Vandenbroeck named new Zambia coach

Zambia have named Belgian Sven Vandenbroeck as their new head coach, according to a Football Association of Zambia statement.

The 38-year-old arrives as the successor to Wedson Nyireda, who left his post in May to join Baroka FC of the South African top flight.

"I think it is a lovely journey in front of us and we are going to make the best of it," Vandenbroek said, as per FAZ's official Facebook page.

"I am looking forward to the five games program that we have. It will be tough but I think we...
