The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has announced a €500 million bailout to the country's first and second division clubs to cope with the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales has labelled La Liga "irresponsible and totally unpatriotic" for testing players for coronavirus, and said it shows "a lack of solidarity."

Rubiales said the tests should be used on others that are clearly more at risk if they have the coronavirus.

La Liga reportedly hired a medical service to include 500 coronavirus tests before the government called a state of emergency in the country on Saturday.

Spanish coach Francisco Garcia, 21, dies after coronavirus diagnosis

A Spanish youth coach has died after it was revealed he had the coronavirus and a previously unknown diagnosis of leukemia.

Francisco Garcia, 21, was coach of the junior team of Malaga-based club Atletico Portada Alta and had an unknown preexisting condition which was later revealed to be a form of leukemia. The leukemia was only discovered while he was in hospital receiving care after showing symptoms of the coronavirus, which Garcia was more susceptible to because of the preexisting condition.
