English Premier League side Swansea City have confirmed that academy coach Andrew Sparkes will join South African club Orlando Pirates as their first team goalkeeper coach.

Sparkes spent six years with the Welsh club's academy, working with the Under-18s and the Under-23s, essentially the reserve team.

Ghana overtake Nigeria in latest FIFA World Rankings

Nigeria and South Africa are among the African nations to have lost ground in the June FIFA World Rankings, released on Thursday.

The Super Eagles, the lowest ranked of Africa's five World Cup-bound teams, have dropped one place to 48th overall in the world. They're now seventh among CAF's teams after being overtaken by rivals Ghana.

The Black Stars appear to be on an upward curve under Kwese Appiah, and climbed three spots to 47th overall and sixth in Africa.

Singh stepped up to take South Africa's fifth penalty, but...

The country became the first African nation to host a men's FIFA World Cup when they welcomed the world in 2010, and Jordaan is determined to add the women's showpiece to the list as well.

The SAFA president, who was re-elected to his post last week, told assembled media on Thursday that bidding...

Van Wyk aims to erase World Cup heartaches

Houston Dash defender Janine van Wyk is in the midst of one of the most important seasons of her career, as she prepares for what could be her last chance to qualify for a World Cup with South Africa.

Van Wyk, a veteran of two Olympic Games campaigns with Banyana Banyana, is hoping to guide the team to the FIFA's showpiece in France next year, and it would be the country's first appearance at the tournament.

But first, they must finish in the top three at the the African Women's Championship in...
