Who is Nigeria's best player to have featured in WAFU Cup of Nations?

The WAFU Cup of Nations is upon us again, and Nigeria, as usual, will be contenders for the title. The Super Eagles B side has been to the final at each of the three editions they have contested, winning once.

In doing so, they have thrown up a number of players who have gone on to make a splash in the main Super Eagles team.

Here are five of the best.

Ahmed Musa (2010)

Musa is by far and away the most prominent of the players who have used the WAFU Cup of Nations to launch their careers has been....

Nigeria's Nwakali finally has his permanent move, but must make it count

Arguably the best Nigerian transfer of the offseason was the one that happened just before the European deadline, and went almost unnoticed.

Kelechi Nwakali's early September move from Arsenal to SD Huesca in the Spanish second tier was, again arguably given he's not made his debut, the move with the most benefit to the player, and thus the Super Eagles.

Since joining Arsenal in 2016, Nwakali was shunted from pillar to post every season, to different middling clubs. From MVV Maastricht,...

Imama Amapakabo thinks big for Nigeria at WAFU Cup of Nations

Ghana may be one title better, but no other country has made more appearances in the West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup of Nations final than Nigeria.

Of the four finals played, the Super Eagles have contested three, winning one; Ghana and Senegal are tied on two each. The only final that Nigeria missed was in 2013, when they failed to attend the tournament. Incidentally, one of their final losses was to Togo, their opening-day opponents at this year's tournament in Senegal; but we will return...

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount speaks to the media ahead of England's Euro qualifier match vs. Bulgaria on Saturday.
Steve Nicol still feels Christian Pulisic has plenty to improve upon, along with the rest of Frank Lampard's youthful Chelsea side.
Tammy Abraham scored three times, as Chelsea put up five to down Wolverhampton 5-2 on the road at Molineux.

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has refused to rule out the possibility of playing for Nigeria despite earning two international caps for England.

Abraham, 21, has represented England at two Under-21 European Championships and featured in two friendlies for the senior squad against Germany and Brazil.

Nigeria's Ejuke wants to make his mark at Ajax... by beating them

Nwankwo Kanu, Finidi George, Sunday Oliseh, and Tijani Babangida are four famous Nigerians who made their marks at Amsterdam ArenA, and Chidera Ejuke wants to do the same... but not for Ajax, for Heerenveen.

While the four Super Eagles legends played for the home side, with Kanu and Finidi helping them to UEFA Champions League titles, 21-year-old Ejuke has little by way of credentials.

He's not got a senior Nigeria cap, and came to the Eredivisie from Norwegian top flight side Valerenga, but is...
