COSAFA U20 Cup: Day 2 Roundup

Lyle Foster scored a brace to help South Africa edge Mauritius 2-0 in a tightly contested Group B clash at the 2017 Mopani Copper Mines Cosafa Under-20 Championships at the Nkana Stadium on Thursday.

The Orlando Pirates striker smashed the ball goalwards on 73 minutes and the ball clattered against the crossbar and down. There was some debate over whether the ball crossed the line, but the goal was awarded.

South Africa are level at the head of the pool with North African guest nation Egypt, who...

Tanzania advance to meet South Africa at Cosafa Cup

Three-time winners Angola crashed out of the Cosafa Cup on Thursday after failing to score for a second successive match and being pipped to top place in Group A by guest team Tanzania.

Angola and Tanzania started the last round of group games equal on points, but with Tanzania (+2) having a better goal-difference.

But a goalless draw for Angola (+1) against Malawi at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, combined with a 1-1 draw for Tanzania against Mauritius at the same time at the Moruleng Stadium...

Tanzania, Angola with Day 1 COSAFA Castle Cup wins

East Africa guest nation Tanzania claimed a first-ever victory at the COSAFA Castle Cup at the eighth attempt after breezing past Malawi at the 2017 instalment of the Southern African championship on Sunday.

Tanzania, who are appearing for a third time after previous visits in 1997 and 2015, profited from a fast start as Yahya Ramadhani scored twice in the opening 18 minutes to give them the win.

Malawi improved after the break, but never really looked like scoring in what is a disappointing start...

Chan 2018 qualification: Madagascar & Mauritius advance

Madagascar and Mauritius moved closer to joining hosts Kenya in next year's African Nations Championship after downing Malawi and Seychelles respectively on Saturday to advance to the second round of qualification.

The two sides have reached the 12-team next stage as they look to represent Southern Africa at the tournament -- which is reserved for players plying their trade in Africa's domestic leagues.

Mauritius advanced 2-1 on aggregate after drawing 1-1 in Saturday's second leg in the Seychelles,...

Fandi Ahmad to return to manager role in charge of Singapore U20 side

Singapore legend Fandi Ahmad will officially return to the managerial hot seat when his newly formed Singapore Under-20 side take on the Mauritius U21s in a friendly later this month.

Fandi was unveiled by the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) as their new head coach of youth last October, overseeing the development of players from the ages of 19 to 23.

The move was initiated to bridge the gap between the U18 side -- the final level of the National Football Academy -- and their U22 counterparts....
