Head of FIFA Refereeing Massimo Bussaca has defended U.S. referee Jair Marrufo's decision-making, while admitting that a "mistake is human" and a "part of the game", when speaking a day after the U-17 World Cup quarterfinal where Brazil beat Germany 2-1 in Kolkata on October 22.

The match featured a few contentious decisions from Marrufo, a number of which appeared to go against Germany, especially in the second half. Brazil striker Lincoln was only given a verbal warning after kicking German left-back...

Brazil stun Germany late; Spain cruise into semifinals of U17 World Cup

KOLKATA, India -- Brazil scored twice in a six-minute span in the second half to beat Germany 2-1 Sunday in the quarterfinals of the Under-17 World Cup in India.

Substitute Weverson levelled the score with a powerful strike in the 71st minute before Paulinho's strong finish in the 77th earned Brazil a semifinal place against England.

Germany looked on top in the first half -- despite a passionate crowd of 66,613 backing Brazil -- and opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Jann-Fiete Arp converted...

A goal down, thanks to a first-half penalty, they were running out of time and the Germans showed no signs of giving in. Then, with 20 minutes to go, substitute Weverson found space...

John at the 'Helm' again as Brazil take on Germany

FIFA television commentator, John Helm, tries to recreate his Guinness World record set in 1981/82 of naming 92 English football clubs in 26 seconds

Both Brazil and Germany might have downplayed their senior teams' 2014 World Cup semi-final in Belo Horizonte ahead of their U-17 World Cup quarter-final clash in Kolkata. However, there is one common link to that match that will bind the two teams as they take to the pitch at the Salt Lake Stadium.

Commentator John Helm, who will be calling the game on Sunday, was also the world-feed commentator on July 8 three years ago in what he describes as the "most extraordinary day" of his football commentary...
