Russian club release Congolese defender after fan protest

Torpedo Moscow cancelled the contract of defender Ervin Botaka-Yoboma on Thursday, after a group of ultras protested his re-signing in a series of racially motivated online posts.

Experienced Congo-Brazzaville goalkeeper Barel Mouko missed the only spotkick of the shootout as Libya won 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw to advance to the African Nations Championship semi finals.

Congo-Brazzaville top African Nations Championship Group D after drawing 0-0 in Agadir with Angola, who also progress to the quarter finals to meet Nigeria.

In the group's other fixture, Burkina Faso drew 1-1 with already eliminated Cameroon to fall short of the final eight.

Carof Bakoua and Kader Bidimbou helped Congo-Brazzaville to a 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso in African Nations Championship action on Saturday to send the Red Devils through to the quarter finals.
