Gary White
Gary White worked wonders with tiny Guam for four years between 2012 and 2016.

Chinese Taipei's new head coach Gary White says his team can edge out Singapore and Turkmenistan to reach the 2019 Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The former Guam boss was appointed on a one-year contract this week, just after the halfway point of the third round of the Asian Cup qualifying campaign, and on the back of a 5-0 defeat in Bahrain.

This leaves Chinese Taipei in third spot in Group E, a point behind Turkmenistan and a point above the Lions, while Bahrain sit three points clear...

Singapore didn't show up in Asian Cup loss to Chinese Taipei - Hariss

Singapore captain Hariss Harun admits that the national side "didn't show up" in their humiliating home defeat against Chinese Taipei and will need to improve dramatically in Tuesday night's friendly against Argentina.

The Singaporeans fell to a 2-1 loss to Chinese Taipei at Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday night, despite Hariss giving them a sixth-minute lead through a pinpoint header.

Hariss Harun had put the Lions ahead in the sixth minute. But the visitors came from behind via goals from Belgian-born Xavier Chen and Chen Chao-An to pick up an unlikely three points.

Hariss Harun aim to carry Singapore scoring burden in Asian Cup qualifier

Hariss Harun is ready to carry some of the goal-scoring responsibility as an under-strength Singapore take on Chinese Taipei in an AFC Asian Cup qualifier at Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday night.

Front man Khairul Amri is likely to be missing due an appendicitis-related problem and another experienced forward in Fazrul Nawaz is still coming back from a long-term knee injury.

It means that utility player Safuwan Baharudin could be used as an emergency striker as the Lions look to improve on their...
