Marta and her Brazil teammates were simply no match for red hot Sam Kerr and her fellow Matildas.

A Lisa De Vanna wonder goal and a glancing Sam Kerr header turned it on for a sold-out crowd as the Matildas defeated Brazil 2-1 in Penrith.

Little over a month after wiping the floor with their Rio Olympics conquorers 6-1 to win the Tournament of Nations, the world No.6 Matildas opened their two-match friendly series at Pepper Stadium in Penrith by taking 23 shots to six.

Matildas' Kerr, De Vanna and Foord the best attacking trio in world - Stajcic

The Matildas celebrate Samantha Kerr's goal.
The Matildas picked up a big win over Brazil.

Coach Alen Stajcic has declared the Matildas' Sam Kerr, Lisa De Vanna and Caitlin Foord the most threatening attacking trio in women's football.

World player of the year nominee Kerr and Australia's all-time record scorer De Vanna both contributed goals to Saturday's 2-1 friendly win over Brazil. The pair combined fluently with Foord at a sold-out Pepper Stadium in Penrith, surging forward to keep their South American visitors on their toes.
