Minnesota United chasing Boca Juniors' Reynoso for DP slot - sources

Former Everton striker Adrian Heath is unsure Carlo Ancelotti's style of play is best for Everton.

Minnesota United is attempting to acquire Boca Juniors midfielder Emanuel Reynoso for a Designated Player spot, multiple league sources have confirmed to ESPN.

One source indicated that Minnesota technical director Mark Watson is currently in South America in an attempt to get the deal over the line.

Argentine outlet TyC Sports was the first to link the Loons with Reynoso.

Reynoso, 24, is in his third season with Boca, and his current contract runs through 2022. He scored in last Sunday's 3-1 win over Athletico Paranaense in the Torneos de Verano. All told he has scored five goals in 64 league and cup appearances with Boca, and was part of the side that claimed a league title in 2018.

Reynoso began his professional career with Tallares in 2014 before moving to Boca four years later.

Speaking to ESPN last week at MLS Media Day last Friday, Minnesota manager Adrian Heath said the team were in pursuit of a Designated Player who would fill an attacking role, and hoped to announce the signing "in the next seven to 10 days." Given Watson's presence in South America, Reynoso now appears to be at the top of Minnesota's list.

In the same interview, Heath said Minnesota hoped to wrap up the acquisition of Paraguayan forward Luis Amarilla in the coming days.
