Essam El-Hadary: Record-breaker rejoins Ismaily SC

Egypt international Essam El-Hadary has re-signed with Egyptian Premier League side Ismaily SC, joining the club on a free transfer.

El-Hadary returns from his homeland from Saudi Arabian side Al-Taawoun FC, with Ismaily confirming his signing on their official handles.

The 45-year-old made history during the World Cup when he started the Pharaohs' final group game against Saudi Arabia to become the oldest player in the tournament's history.

He saved a penalty in that match, but wasn't able to prevent the North Africans from falling to a 2-1 defeat. They exited the tournament after losing all three of their group games.

El-Hadary has played for the Brazilians of Africa over two previous stints, first before joining SC Zamalek in 2010, and then after a stay with Sudanese giants Al Merreikh in 2013.

He's one of the most decorated players in the history of the African game, having represented Al Ahly for 12 years and the Egyptian national team for over two decades.

The veteran has won eight Egyptian Premier League titles, four CAF Champions Leagues and four African Cup of Nations competitions.
