Alexander Isak to sign with Borussia Dortmund over Real Madrid - source

AIK striker Alexander Isak
Alexander Isak is set to sign for Borussia Dortmund, sources tell ESPN FC.

AIK Fotboll's Alexander Isak has decided to join Borussia Dortmund over Real Madrid after the German Bundesliga outfit made a late move for the Sweden international, ESPN FC has been told by a source.

Although Isak was deep in talks with the Spanish giants, the 17-year-old Scandinavian sensation has been won over by Thomas Tuchel's men and will complete his move this week.

A source close to Isak has revealed to ESPN FC that the transfer will set "a new landmark in Swedish domestic football."

Dortmund will pay 90 million Swedish Krona (around €9.5 million/£8.2 million) for the teenage prodigy, which is eight million Swedish Krona (around €850,000/£730,000) more than Zlatan Ibrahimovic cost Ajax Amsterdam from Malmo FF back in 2001.

Although Isak himself will get 10 percent of the transfer fee (€950,000/£820,000) "because of a clause in a new contract he recently signed with AIK," it will still be a new record transfer fee involving a Swedish Allsvenskan team.

Isak is currently in Germany to sign a contract until 2022 at Westfalenstadion and is "likely to be unveiled by Dortmund early this week."

The same source informed ESPN FC when Real overtook Chelsea in the race for Isak's signature and then again when Dortmund made their late entry and overtook Los Blancos.

Zinedine Zidane's men had previously believed that it was a "done deal" with the youngster but he has made this "U-turn" to join Die Schwarzgelben because he believes the Germans represent a "smarter choice."

Isak, of Eritrean heritage but now a senior Sweden international, scored 10 goals in 24 Allsvenskan appearances last season and scouts from Europe's biggest club have flocked to Solna to watch him in action in recent months.
