PSG, Real decimated by injuries, bans for UCL

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid will both play their Champions League Group A opener on Wednesday without a laundry list of suspended and injured stars.

PSG have ruled out both Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani in a medical update from the club for the home match and Neymar is suspended for two games after lashing out at referees following the team's round of 16 exit to Manchester United in last year's competition.

Real Madrid keep or dump: What will Zidane do about Bale, Isco, Marcelo, Ramos & Co. this summer?

Everybody is expecting a summer of change at Real Madrid following last week's elimination from the Champions League and the prospect of a season without a trophy. Club president Florentino Perez and chief executive Jose Angel Sanchez have some huge calls to make, and if history is anything to go by, they'll be making most of them on their own, albeit with input from Zinedine Zidane, who returned to the club on Monday.

With that in mind, here's some unsolicited advice from me and Graham Hunter:...

Real Madrid teammates Ramos, Marcelo involved in training ground row - sources

ESPN FC's Shaka Hislop can't understand why Real Madrid would even entertain the thought of bringing back Jose Mourinho to manage the club.

A training ground clash between Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos and vice-captain Marcelo last Saturday was only a momentary lapse in their close relationship due to the tension around the club, sources have told ESPN FC.

The incident between long-time defensive colleagues Ramos and Marcelo took place towards the end of Saturday's session at Madrid's Valdebebas training ground.

Reports in Spain suggest Marcelo celebrated effusively after his team had won the mini-game which ended the...

Marcelo lurches from one disaster to another while Diego Simeone's renewal doesn't sit well

It's been a week of new beginnings in La Liga or at least, a week of new opportunities. One was merited, one is doubtful and one disastrous.

The three characters on stage are Ernesto Valverde, Diego Simeone and Marcelo, so let's start with the disastrous and build from there.

Even though it's the decision that, in all probability, cut the legs off Madrid's title chase, Santi Solari was well within his rights to think that Sunday's match against Girona was an acceptable opportunity to sharpen...

Real Madrid can 'pay me up' and I'll leave if they want - Marcelo

Real Madrid left-back Marcelo says all the club need to do is "pay me up" and he will leave this summer if they want him to.

Marcelo, 30, has won 20 trophies including four Champions Leagues over more than a decade at the Bernabeu, but has been on the bench for the team's last five La Liga games with coach Santi Solari preferring youth team graduate Sergio Reguilon at left-back.

Solari would not confirm whether Marcelo or Reguilon would start at left-back against Ajax for Wednesday's Champion League...

Is Marcelo approaching the end at Real Madrid as Solari trusts more in youth?

Marcelo was, until recently, one of the top names on the Real Madrid team sheet. Is that no longer the case?

Santi Solari's diplomacy was deadly; there was something eloquent in how evasive he was. At the end of the Copa del Rey clasico on Wednesday night, with a 1-1 draw setting up the second leg, Real Madrid's manager was asked what he made of the way Marcelo had played.

"Our second captain, he's 100% Madridista; he only thinks of Madrid. We're working to get the best version of everyone," Solari replied, and then he stopped. Yeah, the questioner insisted, but what about the actual game, the match...
