Liga MX to announce 'binational' tournament

As MLS and Liga MX mull a new tournament like the SuperLiga of the mid-2000s, Taylor Twellman says the time is right for a new competition.

Liga MX will announce a "binational" tournament "in coming weeks," according to a statement from the league at the club owners' meeting on Monday.

The tournament is expected to match up clubs from Mexico's top-flight division with Major League Soccer sides, which ESPN initially reported back in February

Houston Dynamo captain and U.S. international DaMarcus Beasley announced on Monday that he is retiring following the 2019 season.
