Tottenham's Harry Kane engraved into £5 notes after England World Cup campaign

England captain Harry Kane has been engraved in six £5 notes in circulation in Wales which could be worth up to £50,000.

Micro-engraver Graham Short, who has also etched Jane Austen into a £5 note in the past, has commemorated Kane's World Cup Golden Boot with this tribute.

One of the notes containing Austen fetched £6,000 at auction, and Short believes the Kane versions -- one for every goal he scored at the World Cup -- could be worth nearly ten times that amount.

"I've done six -- one for each goal he scored -- for Harry himself, the Football Association and four to be spent as we did with the Jane Austen notes around the UK and Ireland," he said, as reported by the Guardian. "The Welsh note, I went to Merthyr Tydfil, the former mining town where my father was born.

"It's not a wealthy area and I'm hoping that this note could help to change the life of someone in that area who finds it."

The first note was spent in Meriden, a village between Coventry and Solihull, while another was spent at the Elephant House in Edinburgh, where JK Rowling used to write.

Another note will go into circulation in Northern Ireland, and the other in circulation has been spent in Merthyr Tydfil, as Short confirmed.
