Burnley boss Sean Dyche criticises stewards after pitch invasion

A fan made it onto the pitch at Ewood Park on Wednesday.

Sean Dyche has criticised the time it took for stewards to tackle a Blackburn fan who confronted Burnley players in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and said he almost came onto the pitch himself.

The unsavoury incident happened after Jack Cork had headed Burnley into the lead in the 27th minute of their 2-0 second-round victory at Ewood Park.

Two Blackburn supporters ran onto the pitch, with one heading straight for a group of Burnley players as they made their way back to the centre circle.

Stoke eased into the third round of the Carabao Cup with a comfortable 4-0 victory against Rochdale at the bet365 Stadium.

The tie came 20 years after Rochdale were the first visitors to the newly-opened then-Britannia Stadium in another League Cup tie but there was little nostalgia on show on Wednesday night.

It was a 1-1 draw in 1997 but that would never be the case this time round as a team containing the likes of Kurt Zouma, Bruno Martins Indi, Joe Allen, Bojan and Peter Crouch raced into a 3-0...

Two goals in as many second-half minutes saw Huddersfield come from behind to beat Rotherham 2-1 in the Carabao Cup.

A much-changed Terriers team fell behind to a Millers side searching for the first away win in 28 games when Semi Ajayi headed in the opener inside a minute.

But a 52nd-minute penalty from half-time substitute Philip Billing was quickly followed by Joe Lolley's winner as the Premier League outfit made it three victories from three this term.

Having become just the third promoted side...

Burnley players were confronted on the pitch by a Blackburn fan as Sean Dyche's side won a fourth consecutive East Lancashire derby to advance into the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The respective current fortunes of the fierce rivals, whose grounds are separated by less than 15 miles, were fully reflected in what played out at Ewood Park.

Jack Cork headed in the opener for Burnley after 27 minutes and Robbie Brady wrapped up a 2-0 win in first-half added time.
