A condensed A-League season looks set to play out almost entirely in Sydney and Melbourne under a revamped schedule that is close to finalisation.

Wellington Phoenix general manager David Dome gave an insight into the overhauled nature of the league caused by the need to isolate teams and reduce travel because of the coronavirus.

Dome revealed Australia's two biggest cities will be hubs for the remainder of the regular season, which will be completed by mid-April at empty stadiums.

The health and safety of staff and officials

Much like when bushfires ravaged parts of Victoria and New South Wales earlier this season, this weekend provided a reminder as to the real-life importance of football and sport.

Yet, for all the melancholy, defeat also carries with it the best opportunities to learn and, for those willing to take it, a chance to adjust and make amends.

Just over a year ago -- and on a few occasions since -- Melbourne Victory have been presented with that choice.

Head coach Jeff Hopkins' side entered last season off the back of two wooden spoons and...

A League Review: Melbourne Victory feeling Kruse's absence, Mariners help Nix back into form

Hello A-League fans, it's Monday, so it's time for the good, bad and ugly from the weekend.

Gone in 60 seconds? Nah

Melbourne Victory's 4-1 loss at home to Sydney FC on Saturday night mirrored their finals chances. Anthony Caceres and Adam Le Fondre put distance between Sydney and the home side within moments of each other, but Victory's control of the match was relinquished long before the 64th minute. Meanwhile, Melbourne Victory's chances of playing finals football this season were effectively...
