Marcelo Bielsa: I will not resign from Lille post under any circumstances

Marcelo Bielsa has seen his Lille side struggle so far this season.

Marcelo Bielsa has said he will not resign as coach of struggling Lille.

Bielsa, appointed on a two-year deal in the summer, has seen his side pick up only five points from six games, leaving them a point above the Ligue 1 relegation zone.

The 62-year-old's attacking philosophy had been seen as an ideal fit by new owner Gerard Lopez.

Bielsa resigned his post at Marseille after one game last season and quit Lazio after just two days in summer 2016.

But asked at a news conference whether he could...

Marcelo Bielsa on the touchline during Lille's Ligue 1 game against Rennes.
Marcelo Bielsa took over at Lille on a two-year contract.

Marcelo Bielsa cast out 12 established first-teamers at Lille this summer after talking to them for just 45 seconds, with former Nigeria international Vincent Enyeama among them.

Eric Bautheac was another and told L'Equipe how he ended two seasons at Lille on a low note after being banished from first-team training by Bielsa when he returned for preseason training in early July.

The former Nice man was not alone with Enyeama, Montenegro international Marko Basa and France international midfielder...

Nicolas De Preville
Nicolas De Preville signed a four-year deal with Bordeaux.

Forward Nicolas De Preville has joined Bordeaux from Lille on a four-year deal.

No financial details were given.

The 26-year-old Frenchman is a versatile forward who can play on either flank or through the middle.

He scored 14 league goals in 30 games last season and has two in four so far.

De Preville left Lille with a reminder of his ability, scoring with a curling shot from 25 meters (yards) out against Angers last weekend.

It was his fifth league goal from outside the penalty area in 2017 --...

Vincent Enyeama's Nigeria return imminent, says Gernot Rohr

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr says he has received assurances that former Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama is primed to return to the squad.

The goalkeeper, who holds Nigeria's appearance record after amassing 101 caps, retired from the team in 2015 after a much publicized bust-up with former coach Sunday Oliseh, and has refused entreaties to return since.

However, Rohr said at Nigeria's team press conference ahead of this Friday's 2018 World Cup qualifier against Cameroon that the 35-year-old goalkeeper...

Falcao scores brace, Mbappe sits as Monaco pound Marseille; Lille draw

Falcao celebrates one of his two goals against Marseille on Sunday.
Monaco got two goals from Radamel Falcao in their 6-1 rout of Marseille on Sunday.

In-form Radamel Falcao scored twice as champions Monaco extended their 100 percent start to the season with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Ligue 1 rivals Marseille.

The Colombia international striker powered home a penalty and then netted with a diving header to take his tally to seven goals in four league games and move Monaco onto 12 points alongside leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

Poland defender Kamil Glik had volleyed the hosts into an early lead at Stade Louis II, before Falcao's double and Adama...
