Flamengo defeated Liverpool 3-0 in the 1981 Intercontinental Cup -- one of the high points in Mengao history.

Brazil's most popular club were very happy that the Champions League title went to Liverpool. It could be an omen.

A note from the city declaring the action was posted on the gate of the "Ninho do Urubu" facility on Wednesday morning.

"Today it was shut down completely, there was a decision and the city government has complied," Rio de Janeiro mayor Marcelo Crivella said in a statement.

"We expect that all the...

Two injured in fire at training centre used by Brazilian club Bangu

A fire broke out at the training centre used by Rio de Janeiro football club Bangu on Monday, sending at least two players to hospital with smoke inhalation but causing no serious injuries.
