Porto's Moussa Marega: Racist incident a 'massive humiliation'

Porto forward Moussa Marega called the racist incident he endured in Sunday's league match at Vitoria Guimaraes a "massive humiliation."

Marega, a French-born Mali international, was visibly angered by monkey noises targeting him after he scored Porto's second goal in a 2-1 win. Several Porto and opposition players attempted to dissuade him from walking off the field in the 71st minute, when he demanded to be substituted.

Iker Casillas is likely to confirm his retirement from football after a 21-year career.

Former Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas has announced his intention to run for the role of president of the Spanish FA, a move that is set to lead to him retiring from professional football as a player.

Casillas, who captained Spain to World Cup glory in 2010 as was well as European Championship success in 2008 and 2012, has not played since he suffered a heart attack during training with Porto in May 2019, but is still registered as a player on the club's books.

An alleged racist incident marred a Portuguese league match on Sunday as Porto forward Moussa Marega walked off midway through a match due to abuse from fans, despite many of his teammates having attempted to stop him from leaving.

Marega left his team's 2-1 win at Vitoria Guimaraes in the 69th minute, pointing to the crowd and raising his middle fingers to the stands. Players and staff from both teams tried to stop Marega from walking off the field.

Iker Casillas intends to stand for election as president of the Spanish Football Federation, sources have told ESPN.

Reports first surfaced last month that the former Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper was considering running against incumbent Luis Rubiales, who was elected to the top job in 2018.

Casillas has not yet retired from playing and is at FC Porto, but has not featured for the club since suffering a heart attack in May 2019.

Manchester United drew Club Brugge in the Europa League round of 32 on Monday.

Manchester United were drawn against Belgian side Club Brugge in the Europa League round of 32, while Arsenal will meet Olympiakos.
