Wilfried Zaha has been called a 'genius' by his manager Sam Allardyce.

Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce has dismissed reports of Wilfried Zaha being a summer transfer target for Tottenham, and has called for his "genius" winger to be given greater protection by referees.

The 24-year-old was again Palace's finest player in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Watford, when he regularly stretched the visitors' defence and won the free-kick which led to Troy Deeney's own goal.

Crystal Palace secured a hard-fought three points with only their fourth home win of the season, the first time this season that the club have had consecutive wins at home. While Palace didn't have a shot on target all game, the defensive performance and midfield resilience ensured that the Eagles would continue their good form.

Positives

Sam Allardyce has repeatedly made the case that Palace should respect the point, key to which is the need to keep clean sheets. Palace now have their third clean...

Allardyce on Crystal Palace beating the drop in Premier League: 'It's on'

An own Goal by Troy Deeney gave Crystal Palace their third consecutive win in the Premier League.
An own goal by Troy Deeney gave Crystal Palace their third consecutive win in the Premier League.
Sam Allardyce discusses Palace's quality of late, and why it's made it easy when it comes to choosing his matchday squad.

Sam Allardyce declared Crystal Palace's escape from relegation is "on'' after they secured a third-successive victory with Saturday's 1-0 home defeat of Watford.

Troy Deeney headed a second-half own goal that secured three vital points and lifted Palace to 16th -- four clear of the bottom three.

It also eased much of the pressure that had been building ahead of their next four games against Chelsea, Southampton, Arsenal and Leicester.
