'No precedent' for Bury re-admission, says EFL

The Football League played down expelled Bury's hopes of gaining re-admission next season into League Two, the fourth tier of English football, saying on Tuesday that the established procedure for all clubs is to win promotion from the lower leagues.

Bury, one of English football's oldest clubs, were expelled from the EFL last month after failing to resolve their financial problems or find a new buyer.

Bury can't appeal expel decision - EFL chair

Bury, expelled from the Football League (EFL) on Tuesday after failing to provide guarantees about their finances, have no right of appeal against the decision, EFL Executive Chair Debbie Jevans said on Wednesday.

Bury, with 125 years of Football League membership, became the first team to be expelled since Maidstone in 1992 after a takeover bid fell through just before a deadline to satisfy the EFL about their future.

"There's no appeal process. It is within people's rights to write to us, we await...

Bury expelled from EFL, Bolton teeter on the brink: the dark side of English football

BURY, England -- The bailiffs turned up to collect the treadmills from Bury's training ground last Friday. Considering that the League One team's players had been paid six weeks' wages by the club over the past six months, there was no surprise among the squad to see the debt collectors take away the most basic of equipment, but it was a grim warning of what was to come. "The bailiffs took the anti-gravity treadmill, too," Bury defender Tom Miller told ESPN FC as he waited for news on the club's...

Bury expelled from EFL, Bolton given 14 days

Bury, one of English football's oldest clubs, were expelled from the Football League on Tuesday after failing to resolve their financial problems or find a new buyer, the EFL said in a statement.

C&N Sporting Risk pulled out of its proposed takeover of the League One side just a few hours before the deadline to meet the league's requirements.

Bury joined the Football League in 1894, nine years after they were founded, and won the FA Cup in 1900 and 1903. They are the first team to be expelled since...

Bottom-side Bury came from behind to end their three-year stay in League One with a 2-2 draw against AFC Wimbledon.

Dons midfielder Dean Parrett put the hosts in front with a superb half-volley after Barry Fuller's long throw fell to him at the back post.

Kwesi Appiah doubled their advantage after 34 minutes, firing past the luckless Joe Murphy for his third goal for the club after hesitation in the Shakers' backline.

Captain Neil Danns brought Bury back into the game after 66 minutes, curling into...
