Is preseason over yet? Well, it was the first cup round for Borussia Dortmund. Although it was a competitive match, it still very much had a preseason feel about it as Dortmund started their DFB-Pokal title defence against sixth-division side FC Rielasingen-Arlen. The Black and Yellows progressed to the next round, dismantling the amateur side 4-0 without much trouble at Freiburg's home ground.
"I have nothing but respect when I see how many high profile offers from all over Europe Ousmane Dembele has turned back and how he has stood firm about his commitment to BVB over such a long period of time." Hans-Joachim Watzke, CEO of Borussia Dortmund, noted on the club's official website as Dembele was unveiled by the Black and Yellows in May 2016, adding: "it is not always obvious that someone will act this way and it shows real character."
The Ousmane Dembele transfer saga is the latest in a spectacular transfer window. The 20-year-old could join Barcelona for up to €150 million after Borussia Dortmund turned down a first bid for the France international.
