Tom Champion and Simeon Akinola are pushing for starts as Barnet host Grimsby at the Hive.

Both players came off the bench during their 2-0 victory over Hartlepool last time out but could be handed starts, as interim head coach Rossi Eames looks to build on his first win after succeeding Kevin Nugent two weeks ago.

Teenage midfielder Wesley Fonguck could also be in contention for a starting place.

Grimsby fans hire Mariachi band after inflatables banned from crowd

Travelling Grimsby Town fans have hired a Mariachi band to accompany them to their League Two game against Barnet after being banned from taking inflatables into the stadium.

Barnet issued the blanket ban after one of their stewards was hit by a Grimsby fan wielding an inflatable shark during a Conference game between the two sides back in 2015.

Indeed, Mariners supporters descended on The Hive for the match armed with hundreds of inflatables in protest over the treatment of a fellow fan, who was...

Hartlepool dropped into the Sky Bet League Two relegation places as they slumped to a flat 2-0 home defeat to Barnet.

Newport's win over Accrington sees the Exiles leapfrog Pools, putting them two points in front with two games remaining.

Victory for Barnet, under caretaker boss Rossi Eames, was only their second win in 13 games.

But they controlled the game throughout against a side lacking in confidence, belief and ability.

Wycombe kept alive their hopes of a Sky Bet League Two play-off spot with a 2-0 win over managerless Barnet at The Hive.

Sam Saunders' superb long-range strike and a late Joe Jacobson penalty did the damage as the Bees, who sacked Kevin Nugent on Saturday, slipped to a fourth successive defeat.

The visitors took a 21st-minute lead in spectacular fashion when Saunders stole the ball in midfield and caught Barnet goalkeeper Jamie Stephens off his line from more than 30 yards.

Two early goals were enough for Exeter to get their play-off push back on track with a 2-1 win over plucky Barnet.

The Grecians made a blistering start and were 2-0 up inside the first six minutes. The first came after great play by David Wheeler and Reuben Reid, who teed-up Jordan Moore-Taylor to rifle in a fourth-minute opener.

Then, as Barnet struggled to clear their lines, Jake Taylor poked the ball to Wheeler who managed to squeeze the ball past Jamie Stephens from barely two yards out.
