Bournemouth's poor display highlights the need for a new centre-back

English Premier League: Abel Hernandez (50') Hull City 2-1 Bournemouth
New Hull boss Marco Silva hailed the spirit of the players and supporters after winning his first Premier League match.
While Eddie Howe admits his admiration for John Terry, he has had no discussions with bringing him to Bournemouth.

Losing 3-1 to the Premier League's bottom side, Hull, who were also the team Bournemouth beat 6-1 earlier in the season, is an awful result.

Eddie Howe would have been desperate to bounce back from their 3-0 FA Cup defeat to Millwall on Jan. 7 but instead his side dished up one of their worst performances of the season. They had 61 percent possession but managed just eight shots, as opposed to Hull's 14. All in all, it was an incredibly disappointing day.

Liverpool legend Ian Rush fears the influence of Jose Mourinho when the Merseysiders face Manchester United.

Manchester meets Merseyside this weekend, headlined by Manchester United vs. Liverpool.

Prior to Sunday's huge clash at Old Trafford, Manchester City travel to Everton looking to keep the heat on leaders Chelsea, who will be hoping to bounce back after a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham ended their winning run.

Antonio Conte's side travel to champions Leicester on Saturday evening. Elsewhere, Arsenal are at Swansea and there's a big game at the bottom as Sam Allardyce takes Crystal Palace to former club...

Hull desperately need Bournemouth win with brutal schedule ahead

Marco Silva looks forward to challenge of managing Hull, starting with an FA Cup clash with Swansea.
Alison Bender and Don Hutchison discuss the appointment of new Hull City boss, Marco Silva.

Marco Silva can reflect on his opening week in English football with a cautious sense of satisfaction. After beating Swansea City 2-0 in the FA Cup third round, an injury-ravaged squad went down to a battling defeat away to Manchester United in the first leg of the EFL Cup semifinal.

So far, so good for Hull City's new head coach but the fixture carrying greatest significance is still to come. If Silva is to nurture the tentative optimism that accompanied his appointment last week, getting a result...

Bournemouth must find solution to fill Nathan Ake void against Hull City

ESPN FC's Chelsea correspondent explains why John Terry to Bournemouth is unlikely to fall into place.

Eddie Howe would have wanted to face no other team than Hull City after Bournemouth's match against Millwall on Jan. 7. Although the embarrassing 3-0 defeat to the Lions came in the FA Cup rather than the Premier League, it undoubtedly had knock-on effects around the rest of the club.

Quickly rebuilding momentum with a win would put to bed fears that the loss would be a negative turning point in their season and highlight that this disappointing elimination was just a blip in an otherwise decent...

Eddie Howe, Bournemouth must learn from harsh Millwall lesson

Bournemouth slumped to a 3-0 FA Cup defeat to League One side Millwall on Saturday.

Bournemouth suffered an embarrassing, 3-0 defeat to Millwall in the FA Cup on Saturday, which should mainly be blamed on manager Eddie Howe. He made the wrong decision by making 11 changes from their 3-3 draw against Arsenal on Jan. 3.

Hindsight comes into consideration when reflecting on the performance and the result, but not one player from the previous game against Arsenal started against the Lions. A busy Christmas period and fatigue should be taken into selection deliberation, but four days...
