Newcastle to crash out of FA Cup? Charlie Austin to score for Southampton?

Former Prem referee Peter Walton joins the FC panel to answer your burning questions on the success of VAR, cracking down on simulation, adding new laws and more.

A truly inspired David De Gea defiantly kept Tottenham out on Sunday, and ruined our banker bet in the process. There's FA Cup replay action to get stuck into this week, as well as some big games in Spain and France.

Running total: -£45.11

The Banker

Newcastle's team selection for the first game against Blackburn tells you everything you need to know about the value Rafa Benitez is putting on the FA Cup this season. Since the original third round tie they've also slipped back into the bottom three so, rightly or wrongly, will see an FA Cup run as an unwelcome distraction between now and the end of the season. For this reason Rovers look a cracking bet at better than 6/4 on Tuesday night. Since returning to the Championship, Blackburn have been holding their own and with no relegation fears of their own to contend with (they are 14 points clear of the bottom three) they can throw everything into this. The Magpies are facing a midfield injury crisis and with a crunch Premier League clash with Cardiff to come next weekend they look vulnerable at Ewood Park.

Selection: £8 on Blackburn to win at 31/20 with bet365.

The First-Goal Flutter

Charlie Austin should start for Southampton on Wednesday and the Saints striker looks a tempting price to score first at St Mary's against Derby County. He's not featured much this season but still has three goals to his name and showed against Arsenal in December he can still cut it at the top level when called upon.

Selection: £2 on Austin to score first at 15/4 with bet365.

The Tasty Treble

Sheffield Wednesday look at big price at 9/4 to beat Luton at the second time of asking when they meet again in the FA Cup on Tuesday. The pair played out a drab 0-0 draw at Hillsborough a week ago but bookmakers could be underestimating the Owls here. As stated, Blackburn look at punt at 31/20 to beat what is sure to be a depleted Newcastle United side, while backing the draw at 3/1 in Southampton's replay with Derby County offers an FA Cup treble paying in excess of 30/1.

Selection: £2 on the treble at 32.15/1 with bet365.

The Euro Wager

Copa del Rey holders Barcelona have work to do following a 2-1 first leg defeat to Levante. Ernesto Valverde left most of his stars out of the away leg with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba all given the night off. A much-changed defence conceded twice in 18 minutes but were given a lifeline late on when Philippe Coutinho converted a penalty to reduce their arrears. Some of Barca's stars could return on Thursday but Levante are a good side who proved it by beating Real Madrid away back in October. They like to attack, so the percentage call here is backing Barcelona to win and both teams to score.

Selection: £4 on Barcelona to win and both teams to score at 5/4 with bet365.

The Wildcard Tip

There's also action from France's Ligue 1 this week where St Etienne could be worth following against Marseille. Les Verts are firmly in the race for a Champions League spot next season (they sit fourth in the table) while Marseille's recent form has been pretty patchy. The hosts are a 7/5 shot to win and a 2-0 score can be backed at 11/1 with bet365.

Selection: £1 on St Etienne to win 2-0 at 11/1 with bet365.
