Monaco's Falcao: I want to be a professional baseball player after football

Radamel Falcao wants to become a professional baseball player after football.

Radamel Falcao has told France Football that he intends to become a professional baseball player after he calls time on his football career.

The Colombia international has enjoyed great success, especially in Europe, where he has won league titles with Porto and Monaco as well as winning the Copa del Rey and Europa League with Atletico Madrid.

The striker also had spells with Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea but failed to make the desired impact after sustaining a cruciate ligament injury in his left knee which saw him miss the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

At the age of 33, Falcao is edging closer to the end of his career but he has expressed his desire to become a professional baseball player when he decides to hang up his boots.

"I love baseball," he said. "When I was young in Venezuela where I grew up, I used to play the sport at a very high level. I often speak about it with my wife. I believe that when I finish my footballing career, I'll try out as a professional baseball player."

Falcao is determined to surpass NBA hall of fame star Michael Jordan -- who played baseball for a year after his first retirement from basketball -- and become the first footballer to succeed in Major League Baseball.

He added: "Like Jordan, even if he was a basketball player who wasn't able to play in the top leagues at the highest level. I want to become to first to achieve that!"
